First Service for the GTS 7/7/06
So after the ID6 rally I was ready for my 625 mile first service. I went against what I have said on my blog in the past and took it back to Vespa Philadelphia. I figured I would get over what had happened trying to get my scooter and move on.
I called on Wednesday 7/5 and they said they could take me in whenever I wanted. I asked about a 7/7 Friday morning appointment and they said yes. I took the day off and was happy to drive the scoot in and get this first service out of the way. I was quoted on the phone that this service was $150. which was a little high.
I arrived for my service appointment and the dealer was still not open. I grabbed some coffee and hung out. After turning over the scoot I had breakfast and shopped in Manayunk.
The dealer called my cell about 2 hours later and said my scoot was ready. They charged me $18. for an oil filter on top of the service. I was told first service does not include a filter change normally, but they felt mine needed it.
I paid and left happy that the service was completed and I would not have to have service again until I hit 2k on the odo.
When I got home I noticed the little chromed Vespa disc that covers the side of the engine was missing. I thought maybe it was removed during service and was not put back on so I called the dealer to check. They said they would call back. They did and said it would not have been removed for this service but they would look around and call back. They never did. Surprise? No, not really. No offer to even order me one and make a sale. So I called up Motorsport Scooters in San Diego and got a replacement for $16. Here is the piece I am talking about.
I found my title for the new scoot in the mail when I got home as well. I am glad that came and was error free. I had heard a few nightmares about title delays and errors with this dealer also.
Beside this missing cover which might have fallen off on RT. 1 heading home from the dealer ... I am still very happy with this scooter. The style and Italian design is impressive and sure turns heads as I ride by.
